Are you a high school student? Would you like to travel, experience a big city, visit historic landmarks and meet new people? Perhaps you’d like to meet face to face with influential figures like U.S. representatives, or maybe you’re looking for an inspirational and educational experience in the company of fellow Texas teens.

If so, then you’re a candidate to apply for a slot on the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 16-23, 2024, sponsored by Medina Electric Cooperative and organized by Texas Electric Cooperatives.

The deadline to apply for Medina EC’s Youth Tour contest is fast approaching. Submit your application by January 5 for your chance to win a ticket for this adventure.

Youth Tour is an action-packed trip to the U.S. capital with more than 150 of your peers and chaperones from across Texas. You’ll visit Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the Smithsonian Institution, memorials and more. Activities include learning about rural electrification, seeing a performance at the Kennedy Center, going on a river cruise with dinner and dancing, and meeting elected officials.

To apply for this trip of a lifetime, submit an application and essay to be judged by an independent judge. This year’s contest topic is What would life be like without electricity? How does it add value to our lives?

Eligible entrants must:
