Medina Electric Cooperative presented the Uvalde Memorial Hospital with a $6,650 donation on Tuesday, August 4. Uvalde Memorial Hospital has reached the halfway point in construction of the new facility and will use the grant towards the purchase of an advanced nurse call system. The system will be the same through all nursing units, helping with productivity and consistency, while syncing with electronic patient records. The system also includes an app that, as a designated nurse for a specific patient, would notify the nurse of information pertinent to the patient.

Concern For Community and Cooperation Among Cooperatives are longstanding Cooperative Principles. Cooperatives like Medina EC work to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve and supporting the Uvalde Memorial Hospital is just one way of doing that.

The donation was made possible through the members of Medina EC, and through CoBank’s Sharing Success charitable contribution program. CoBank, a national cooperative bank, is one of Medina EC’s financial partners. Through the Sharing Success program, CoBank matched $10,000 in donations that Medina EC made to nonprofit organizations throughout their 17-county service area.
