Medina Electric Cooperative presented the Starr County Memorial Hospital with a $6,650 donation. The Starr County Memorial Hospital is opening a brand-new MRI imaging center, which will include new CAT scan units. The donation will be used to help purchase new MRI and CAT scan equipment for the facility.

Concern For Community and Cooperation Among Cooperatives are longstanding Cooperative Principles. Cooperatives like Medina EC work to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve and supporting the Starr County Memorial Hospital is just one way of doing that.

The donation was made possible through the members of Medina EC, and through CoBank’s Sharing Success charitable contribution program. CoBank, a national cooperative bank, is one of Medina EC’s financial partners. Through the Sharing Success program, CoBank matched $10,000 in donations that Medina EC made to nonprofit organizations throughout their 17-county service area.

Other recipients of this year’s Sharing Success donations from CoBank and Medina EC were the Medina County Healthcare Foundation (Hondo), which was awarded $6,650 to help implement a point of care system for viral tests, and the Uvalde Memorial Hospital (Uvalde), which was awarded $6,650 to help purchase an advanced nurse call system at the hospital’s new facility.
