Medina Electric Cooperative held its 86th Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, October 4, 2025 and welcomed members to its Rio Grande City office location. Members enjoyed breakfast, which included tacos and pan dulce, fellowship with members and meeting with employees and board representatives.
The meeting included a year in review video highlighting key cooperative projects and the 2024 financial report. Additionally, election results were announced and many members walked away with door prizes, including the $1,000 grand prize.
The employees and board of directors of Medina EC extend their thanks to all who attended. CEO Trey Grebe mentioned the importance of participating in the cooperative process.
Voting Districts 1 and 2 had uncontested elections. Per the bylaws, incumbents Mr. Kenny Weynand and Mr. Joe Foley were automatically reelected.
Voting District 3 had no nominations and Director Annette Sorrells chose not to seek reelection. The board solicited candidates in Voting District 3 and after a selection process, the board announced that Mr. Dennis Gonzalez was selected to fill the vacancy. He will be officially seated later this month.
Director Annette Sorells was recognized for her many years of service on the cooperative's board.
After the meeting concluded, members were encouraged to watch the live line safety demonstration to learn more about electrical safety. Planning for the 87th Annual Membership Meeting has already begun and will be in Medina County. To learn more about Medina Electric Cooperative, visit MedinaEC.org.
