Medina Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for two grant programs—the Community Empowerment Program and Sharing Success—designed to fuel growth and support nonprofits across its 17-county service area.
Community Empowerment Program
The CEP funds capital improvement projects that drive economic diversity and improve local health or essential services. In 2026, Medina EC will award up to $10,000 in total grants to eligible local governments and nonprofits, including schools, fire departments and libraries. Since 2015, the program has invested more than $89,000 back into South Texas communities.
- Deadline to Apply: April 1, 2026

Sharing Success
Through a partnership with CoBank, Medina EC doubles its community impact by matching donations to qualifying nonprofits. In 2025, this initiative distributed $30,000 to vital resources. Recent recipients include Southwest Family Life Centers in Hondo and Starr of Hope in Rio Grande City, both of which support survivors of domestic violence. The grant was also used to sponsor a lineman to Guatemala through NRECA International for global electrification efforts.
- Nomination Deadline: February 23, 2026

“Medina Electric Cooperative recognizes how important it is to foster economic development in our service area,” said Trey Grebe, CEO of Medina EC. “The CEP and Sharing Success grants are two opportunities we can give back and help nonprofit organizations make a tangible difference in the lives of our members.”
