With the upcoming 2024 general election, many people across the nation have a hot topic on their mind: voting. Voting is an extremely important action to shape the future. In fact, Medina Electric Cooperative relies on voting to choose our board of directors, as the co-op is owned by its members and allows them to take part in the democratic process.

Medina EC understands the importance of getting involved, being heard and voting with co-op issues in mind. Here are a few ways you can help:

  • America’s Electric Cooperative PAC: Founded in 1966, this is the federal political action committee of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. It is funded by grassroots contributions from electric co-op members and employees in 48 states. By giving support and becoming a PAC member, you will help support political candidates who recognize the vital role of electric cooperatives in their local communities. • Rural Friends of Electric Cooperatives PAC: While similar to America’s Electric Cooperative PAC, this PAC focuses on the representatives of and in the state of Texas. The group consists of co-op members who help defend their local electric cooperative and care enough to contribute to the progress and growth of their cooperative and the communities it serves. • Co-ops Vote: This non-partisan project of America’s Electric Cooperatives provides its members and employees with resources and information to assist them at the polls while keeping co-op issues in mind. A list of policymakers and candidates is also provided to help voters to see what energy policies they support and how those policies would impact access to reliable, affordable energy.
