Medina Electric Cooperative encourages members to take advantage of its energy efficiency rebates, designed to help encourage energy-efficient, cost-effective upgrades to help members save money each month.

Medina EC offers members a variety of product and service rebates to make energy-efficient improvements more affordable. Members should remember to include proof of purchase and energy star qualification, where applicable, when applying for these rebates. 

Available rebates include:

  • HVAC Tune-up: Earn a $60 rebate when you have your HVAC system professionally tuned up before the summer season. A qualifying HVAC tune-up includes 
    • Checking and correcting the unit’s refrigerant pressure and tubing
    • Checking and adjusting belt tension
    • Cleaning and lubricating the indoor blower unit
    • Replacing filters
    • Cleaning inside the “A” coil
    • Inspecting the thermostat, wiring, and other electrical components. 
  • Water Heater Blanket: Earn a $10 rebate with the purchase of a water heater blanket priced over $20 (before tax). 
  • Electronic Programmable Thermostat: Earn a $25 rebate with the purchase of an electronic programmable thermostat priced over $40 (before tax).
  • Refrigerator: Earn a $50 rebate with the purchase of a new Energy Star qualified refrigerator larger than 10 cubic feet. 
  • Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine or AC Window Unit: Earn a $35 rebate for each qualifying Energy Star appliance. Freezers must be larger than 10 cubic feet. 

Medina EC also offers rebates for members who replace heat pumps or central air conditioning systems. All installations must be completed by a qualified, licensed service professional. Members must submit a copy of the original invoice showing the model and serial numbers for all equipment installed. 

Medina EC’s replacement rebates include: 

  • Heat Pump: Earn a $400 rebate with the installation of a new heat pump meeting the following requirements:
    • Minimum 18 SEER, 12.0 EER and 9.3 HSPF
    • New, matching system certified by AHRI
    • Replacement of both the condensing unit and air-handler
  • Central AC: Earn a $200 rebate with the installation of a new central AC system meeting these requirements:
    • Minimum 18 SEER and 12.0 EER
    • New, matching system certified by AHRI
    • Replacement of both the condensing unit and air-handler

Applying for rebates is simple. Applications and full program details are available at MedinaEC.org/Rebates. Rebates are limited to occupied residences and small commercial businesses of Medina EC members and are provided in the form of a bill credit.
