Crews continue to respond to outages from the storms that moved through our area late Monday evening and early Tuesday morning. Rain, lightning and high winds primarily impacted Frio, LaSalle and Webb counties and also further south in our service area. Most of the damage is from lightning and high winds causing some broken poles and many individual outages that crews must respond to one-by-one.

Outages were also experienced in Medina County due to excessive lightning and extremely high winds. Almost all of those outages were restored in the early morning hours with a few meters remaining.

We do expect to have all members restored by today if no more severe weather comes through during our restoration efforts.  Because there are many individual outages, we cannot tell you exactly when your power will be restored if you are still off; however, we can tell you that crews will be working hard to ensure all meters are back on. We have also brought additional crews to the impacted areas to aid in restoration.

You can track the numbers and progress on our outage map.

Medina EC is continuously monitoring the weather system as we prepare for more scattered thunderstorms expected to impact our service area this week.

  • Be sure your outage is reported through SmartHub or 1-866-MEC-ELEC.
  • Stay safe.
  • Do not approach downed power lines. Even if you do not have power, these lines can still have electricity running through them.
  • Outage restoration follows a process, where power is restored to larger groups of members and then crews work down to individual locations.
  • Do not drive through high water. Turn around, don't drown.

AS OF 5 P.M.

Crews are still responding to outages across our system. Damage to poles and equipment add to restoration times; but we are hopeful to have all meters on by dark.

Please be aware that there is more rain and storms in the forecast for the week. Medina EC crews are on call and will continue to respond to outages if they occur. Please remember to report outages through SmartHub or by calling 1-866-632-MEC-ELEC (1-866-632-3532).
