Medina Electric Cooperative is making enhancements to our service that will greatly improve members' experience with us.

Members enrolled in SmartHub with a verified mobile number on their account will receive text messages notifying them when their meter is out of power and when power is restored.

Please note: You must verify your mobile number with SmartHub's verification process to receive these alerts. 

Notification Details

  • Members registered with a SmartHub account with a verified mobile number listed will receive outage alerts by SMS text message
  • Notifications will be sent when your meter is out of power and when power is restored.

Activation Date

  • The feature is set to go live February 29. 
  • Beginning February 29, members with verified mobile numbers will receive a welcome SMS message. Eligible accounts holders will receive an email notification between February 28 and March 13 inviting them to verify their contact methods to receive the outage notifications. The email will have instructions on how to verify contact methods through SmartHub or by contacting us. 

VERIFICATION Next Steps: Option 1 - DIY
You can verify your account yourself through SmartHub.

  1. Log in to SmartHub.
  2. Go to Contact Methods on the left menu bar on the web or under settings on the app.
  3. Enter any applicable mobile numbers or emails you wish to enroll.
  4. Follow the verification process.
  5. That's it! You'll receive notifications when your meter is out of power and when power is restored.

You have the option to further enroll in other notification options such as billing. Use the Manage Notifications button to further explore those options.

VERIFICATION Next Steps: Option 2 - MEC
If you prefer, you can contact Medina EC to help verify your contact methods.

  1. Use the chat feature on our website during business hours.
  2. Email us anytime.
  3. Call us at 1-866-632-3532 during business hours.

You will need to have your mobile phone handy or access to the email you're wishing to verify.

 

Opt-Out Option:

  • At any time, members not wishing to receive text notifications can reply STOP to 1-833-649-0801. This will add that mobile number to the block list, preventing further text messages.
  • Members can also contact us by phone, email or chat to be added to the block list.
  • Please note, by opting out, you’re adding your number to the block list and will no longer receive any text notifications from Medina EC. To reenroll, you must contact the cooperative.
