$11,000 Awarded Through Community Empowerment Program

The first grants have been awarded through Medina EC's Community Empowerment Program, and $11,000 has been given to various organizations across our service territory. The program was designed to award grants for capital projects that support community and economic development in the counties served by Medina EC.


The following received funding through the program this year:

Payment System Maintenance on 7/28

Our payment system will be down for updates on 7/28 beginning at 11:59 p.m. The work will take less than an hour. During this time, members will be unable to make payments over the phone or online through SmartHub.

Political Involvement Through Rural Friends ACRE

As an electric cooperative, Medina EC has to take an active role in the political process. Decisions at the state and national level could have huge impacts on our industry, business and members.

Phone System Maintenance: 7/19, 12AM - 6AM

AT&T will be performing maintenance on our system on Sunday, 7/19, from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. During this time, we will lose phone service for approximately 5 minutes. If you need to report an outage during this time, please do so using SmartHub.


Annual Membership Meeting: September 26

Medina EC's 77th Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 26 at the Student Center (STC) at Texas A&M International University in Laredo. Booths, hospitality and registration will open at 9 a.m. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Entertainment by Lyndy Phillps and lunch will immediately follow.

Capital Credit Allocation Statements Mailed 6/19

Capital credit allocation statements will be mailed to members on Friday, 6/19. This statement will arrive separately from your regular monthly bill. It outlines what amount of the margins from 2014 are being added to your account in the permanent financial record.

Auto Accidents Involving Power Lines

When you are in an auto accident, your first instinct is to get out of the car. But in a wreck with a power line, that could be a fatal mistake. By getting out, you could become the path to ground for electricity and risk electrocution.

Energy Star Tax Break Weekend: May 23-25

Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales and use taxes on the purchase of certain Energy Star products during the weekend of May 23-25. The 2015 ENERGY STAR sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. (after midnight) on Saturday, May 23, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day).
