Renewal Required for Agriculture Sales Tax Exemption

If you are claiming a sales tax exemption on electricity used in the production of agricultural products, you must renew your exemption by December 31 through the Office of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Otherwise, the co-op will be required to charge sales tax on your electric bill beginning in January.

Inspections for 2016 ROW Work Begin

Medina EC currently has contractors that perform right-of-way work (ROW) inspecting certain power lines that will be cleared in 2016 so they can submit bids to the cooperative. Here is where you can expect to see Medina EC contractors and crews frequently during October.

Planned Power Outage: Cotulla Area, 10/7

Medina Electric Cooperative crews will be performing maintenance work for system improvement in the substation that serves members in the area North West of Cotulla. This will result in a power outage from 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, 10/7. This maintenance is necessary to help the cooperative continue to deliver reliable electricity to members in that area. We apologize to members in the area for any inconvenience.


Co-op Donating Two Trucks to Area VFDs

Medina Electric Cooperative is donating two retired cooperative trucks to area volunteer fire departments through the new vehicle donation program. Applications from interested and qualified VFDs are due November 13.

ORU Announces Bike Giveaway

Operation Round Up is offering kids between the ages of 5 and 12 a chance to get a free bike. You must fill out an application and write a letter to the committee to be considered. A limited number of bikes will be awarded in December.


October is National Co-op Month

Cooperatives such as Medina EC are different. It isn't that we necessarily try to be different. Different is just part of the cooperative business model. It is built in to how we operate - and different isn't a bad thing.

Recap of 77th Annual Membership Meeting

The 77th annual Membership Meeting was held on Saturday, September 26 in Laredo. There were 107 registered members in attendance and 193 total guests at the meeting.


Results from the election were announced. Of 17,689 eligible voters, 1,444 votes were cast for an 8.16% returned rate.
