Medina EC Donates $10,000 to Area Organizations
Medina Electric Cooperative presented three organizations in their service area with $10,000 in donations on Friday, October 27. The presentations were made by Mark Rollans, CEO of Medina Electric, and Ken Gajdos, with CoBank.
The donations were made possible through the members of Medina Electric Cooperative, and through CoBank’s Sharing Success charitable contribution program. CoBank, a national cooperative bank, is one of Medina EC’s financial partners.Through the Sharing Success program, CoBank matches an annual donation of up to $5,000 that Medina EC makes to up to three nonprofit organizations. Each year, Medina EC selects organizations located in a different parts of their 17-county service area to receive the donation.
This year's recipients were:
- Dilley Public Library - $4,000 for computer equipment and furniture for their new facility
- Herby Ham Activity Center (Uvalde) - $4,000 for exercise and physical therapy equipment
- The Uvalde Grand Opera House - $2,000 to repair windows that have been in the building since it was built in 1891.
Concern for community and cooperation among cooperatives are longstanding cooperative principles. Cooperatives like Medina EC work to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve, and supporting the Dilley Public Library is just one way of doing that. The library is a hub of the Dilley community, and offers many services to residents of all ages.
