Frio Regional Hospital Receives $6,600
Medina Electric Cooperative presented the Frio Regional Hospital with a $6,600 donation on Tuesday, October 29. Frio Regional Hospital recently broke ground on a new urgent care facility, projected to be completed in early 2020. The clinic will help serve residents of Dilley and Frio County, who have been traveling to surrounding areas after Dilley’s hospital closed. The facility will have a pharmacy, basic radiology services and a full-time provider.
Concern for community and cooperation among cooperatives are longstanding Cooperative Principles. Cooperatives like Medina EC work to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve, and supporting Frio Regional Hospital is just one way of doing that.
The donation was made possible through the members of Medina EC, and through CoBank’s Sharing Success charitable contribution program. CoBank, a national cooperative bank, is one of Medina EC’s financial partners. Through the Sharing Success program, CoBank matched $7,500 in donations that Medina EC made to nonprofit organizations throughout their 17-county service area.
Other recipients of this year’s Sharing Success donations from CoBank and Medina EC were the Santa Teresita Community Center (Laredo), which was awarded $3,400 to help replace old computers, tables and chairs, and the Medina County Food Pantry (Hondo), which was awarded $5,000 for shelving to hold food and purchase office furniture for its new facility.
